1.    Kathy has been in middle level education since 1973 as a math teacher, team leader, curriculum coordinator, assistant principal, director of staff development, and consultant based in Ohio, Florida, Colorado, Washington State, and Arizona.

2.    She received her Bachelors and Masters degrees from The Ohio State University and her administrative certificate from The University of Colorado.

3.    In 1982, Kathy was a member of a ten person team to plan the philosophy, program, and physical plant of an exemplary middle school in Broomfield, Colorado.

4.    In 1987, she was a member of a six person team from the United States to present at the first European conference on middle level education that was held in Brussels, Belgium and made a return visit in 2001 to keynote that same conference in Budapest, Hungary.

5.    From 1987-1993, Kathy was a consultant for the National Resource Center For Middle Grades Education which is housed at The University of South Florida in Tampa. As a direct result of that affiliation, she has assisted the Department of Defense schools in Germany and England with their conversion to middle school philosophy, programs, and practices.

6.    In May of 1997, Kathy received "The Award of Distinction" from the College of Education at The Ohio State University for her work with middle level students and teachers.

7.    For the 2000/2001 school year, she was once again school based as the part time Director of Staff Development at The American International School in Lagos, Nigeria, Africa and presented across the African continent for AISA, the African International Schools Association, in places such as Senegal, Kenya, and Botswana.

8.    During the 2004/2005 school year, Kathy worked with the Department of Defense domestic schools to help them convert to middle level programs and practices at military installations in Cuba, Puerto Rico, Guam, and the continental USA.

9.     Because of her long time commitment to middle level education, she is also a member of the On-site Professional Development Cadre from The National Middle School Association and has recorded two interactive CD's about teaming for that organization.  Kathy has also recently co-authored 2 books/CD with Debbie Silver, Rick Wormeli, and Monte Silver titled "Because You Teach" and "Middle School Matters" published by Incentive Publications.

10.  Since 1993, Kathy has been the founder and President of "Creative Solutions In Education" and has presented at school sites and conferences in 48 States and 15 foreign countries.

11.   She resides in Sedona, Arizona with her husband, Bruce, and her two dogs, Kahlua and Cream!!!!!
